Event details of Connecting Urban Research
Date
19 November 2026
Time
15:00 -17:00
Location
MidWest

This event aims to strengthen connections across disciplines, showcase ongoing urban research, and explore opportunities for future collaboration in research, teaching, and public engagement.

Together we will explore what we can learn from each other in doing research on cities past and present. In ten-minute pitches, scholars from both the Social Sciences and Humanities faculties will share work in progress and formulate a problem-oriented question to which either a social scientist or historian will respond. Urban scholars often transgress disciplinary boundaries; this afternoon we will try to push the knowledge frontier in each other’s research even further.

PhD students from both faculties are invited to join a separate lunch meeting from 12:00 until 14:30. Other colleagues are welcome from 14:30 onwards for tea and coffee; our thematic sessions will run from 15:00 until 17:00.
