New MA and Minor Urban History!

The History Department of the University of Amsterdam has a strong tradition of teaching courses on urban history. ACUH members often draw on their own research interest in urban history to design courses for both the History BA and MA.

In 2017-2018 we launched our new MA in Urban History, coordinated by Clé Lesger, and the 'minor Stadsgeschiedenis' at the BA level, coordinated by Maartje van Gelder. Each year ACUH members jointly offer a Bachelor’s survey course in urban history. Students are warmly invited to write their Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis in the field of urban history, focusing on the rich history of Amsterdam or on any other aspect of urban history in Europe and beyond. ACUH members also offer tutorials for students in the Research MA: this is a great way of getting an insight into the staff's research projects, while discovering where your own research interests and talents lie.

For the program of the new minor, see below.
