The Great Urban Transition: The Rise of Nonfamily Households in Amsterdam and Beyond investigates the causes and consequences of the rapidly growing number of nonfamily households is one of the most profound social changes in northwestern Europe since the baby boom of the immediate post-war years. It is embedded at the Amsterdam Centre for Urban History - based at the Amsterdam School of Historical Studies - and the Centre for Urban Studies.  

The seed grant was awarded by the Faculty of Social Sciences in the context of the UvA-wide (societal) research theme 'Fair and Resilient Societies', one of the four central societal themes formulated in the UvA strategic plan for 2021-2026.
