Public Lectures History of Architecture

Two upcoming public events on Amsterdam's architectural history.

On Friday 8 April, Petra Brouwer will lead a debate during the presentation of the book Rumoer aan de Amstel. Het Amsterdamse Stadhuis en het muziektheater 1808-1988. The evening is hosted by Genootschap Amstelodamum, and the book will be presented to mayor of Amsterdam Eberhard van der Laan. Contributions are by Walter Etty (former councilor of finances), Herman de Liagre Böhl (editor of the present volume) en Guido Wallagh en Martijn Braamhaar (programmers Stadhuis-Waterloopleinmarkt).

On 14 April at 16.00  Architectuurcentrum Amsterdam will be opening the exhibition 100 jaar inspiratie, about the influence of the Amsterdamse School on contemporary architecture.

This event is followed by an evening program, also hosted by Petra Brouwer, starting at 20.00, at the Academie van Bouwkunst in Amsterdam. The event is titled De Amsterdamse school als inspiratiebron, and includes lectures by four architects about their relation to the Amsterdamse School.
