New project: Negotiating Cleanliness in the Premodern City
The Body and the Urban Environment in the Low Countries 1400-1600
The project will focus on the interplay between literary and medical discourses and socio-political and bodily practices in the urban environment.
Janna Coomans has been awarded with one of the 8 PhD Fellowships of the Institute for Cultural History (UvA) for a four-year research project on ideas and practices of cleanliness in pre-modern Dutch cities. The project will start in September 2013.
