Societal relevance

Both today and in the past urban communities have witnessed stability and cohesion, as well as conflict and segregation. What makes a city 'work' as a community, and how do citizens cope with urban tensions? The ambition of this research group is to discuss the long-term and global history of urban societies with urban policy makers, journalists, museum curators, as well as with a wider public, thus enriching our understandings of current urban trends and challenges.
